Soffit Species Available

There are several types of natural wood soffit species available, each offering unique characteristics in terms of appearance, durability, and maintenance requirements. Here are some common types:

Western Red Cedar:
Known for its natural beauty and durability. It’s resistant to rot, insects, and decay, making it a popular choice for exterior siding. Cedar is available in various grades, including clear (knot-free) and knotty (with knots), offering options for different aesthetic preferences.

Douglas Fir:
Douglas Fir T&G is known for its strength and dimensional stability. It has a straight grain and is less prone to warping and twisting. Fir T&G is available in clear grades and can be stained or painted to achieve desired aesthetics.

Pine:
Pine T&G is versatile and cost-effective, with options such as Eastern White Pine and Southern Yellow Pine. It can be treated to enhance durability and resistance to insects and decay. Pine T&G is available in various grades, including clear and knotty.

Hemlock:
Light, consistent colour (pale yellow to light brown) offers a clean, modern look. Straight grain and relatively uniform texture make it visually appealing and easy to stain or paint.

Alaskan Yellow Cedar: is a highly durable, fine-grained wood prized for its exceptional stability and resistance to moisture, decay, and insects. Naturally lightweight yet strong, it performs exceptionally well in coastal and wet climates. Its smooth texture and pale golden tone accept finishes beautifully, making it an ideal choice for refined, long-lasting exterior siding applications.
